Tales From The Trenches

Key points to remember:
- Life is about choices and internalizing change. It’s all on you. Your life can be what you want it to be.
- You need to be dedicated and think on your feet.
- Get back to basics and create a blueprint for success:
- Make a choice. Don’t sit on the fence and do things half & half.
- Action, not thoughts. Stop thinking about it and do it.
- Sincerity. Do things because you mean them, be genuine and engage with people.
- Trust. Who starts an employee the first day they start at a company? You should. Rather start with trust and coach your employees – and hire the right employees.
- Transparency. Be open about who you are, be passionate, and allow people to be a part of your team.
- Clear, effective communication. Make a choice, be clear, transparent.
- Break the conventional way of wisdom. Always evolve into something new. We base so much on what we’ve learnt, been taught, our culture etc – we don’t think about what we don’t know. Has it been done?
- Fail forward. Try it, again and again. Yes, you will fail, but fail forward. Get up and keep moving. It’s not easy, but you will reap the rewards.
- Admit mistakes, grow and learn.
- The magic words are sorry and thank you.
- Achieving a 6% attrition rate:
- Why? It saves on recruitment fees, training costs, infrastructure costs, and you can build an experienced team that works well together.
- How do you achieve it? Through touchpoints.
- People

- • Incentives
- • Support
- • Transparency
- • Accountability and empowerment
- Process
- Get it right from inception. Find the right person because you are looking and interviewing in the right way.
- Once they are there, ensure you keep them.
- Utilise coaching and performance reviews
- Put the right support structure in place for the team to perform
- Take the initial change into both your work and home environment. Don’t wear a mask. Everything in life starts with a thought. With transparency, that thought can build into a habit, character and then destiny.
